HIGHER STANDARDS
LOWER CRIME
Republican for District Attorney
Meet Daniel Sparks
A neighbor, husband, and father, Daniel W. Sparks is a Republican running for Jeff Davis Parish District Attorney to make us safer. A proud Jennings High School graduate, Daniel graduated in 2001 and then received an accounting degree with a minor in Psychology from McNeese State University. He then received his law degree from Southern University and was admitted to the Louisiana State bar in 2011. Beginning his career as a third generation landman, the family profession instilled in Daniel a strong work ethic and a practical understanding of how the law works on the ground.
Legal counsel for the Jeff Davis Parish Sheriff’s Office, Daniel’s legal experience includes being published in the Louisiana Bar Journal and practicing at the firm of Marcantel, Marcantel, Wall, and Pfeifer before starting his own practice, where he provides free legal services to veterans and active-duty military. With over a decade of experience as a public defender, Daniel has seen the failings of the criminal justice system first-hand. That’s why he’s motivated to tackle those issues and fix those failings as our next District Attorney.
A dedicated husband to Kimberly and proud father of Daniel, Trevor, and Ryan, Daniel W. Sparks serves on the Board of Control for the Jeff Davis Parish Library, coached little league soccer and baseball, and can be found working the concession stand at every Jennings home football game.
What He’ll Do
as Our District Attorney
Just like you, Daniel sees that crime is not getting any better. By setting the standards our community expects and criminals fear, Daniel will lead a tireless team of prosecutors to bring lasting justice to our streets.
FIGHT CRIME
As legal counsel for the Jeff Davis Parish Sheriff’s Office, Daniel understands that to make our community safer, the District Attorney’s Office and local law enforcement must work hand-in-hand. That’s why Daniel will always respect the critical work of our men and women in uniform.
SUPPORT LAW ENFORCEMENT
GIVE ATTENTION TO ALL CASES
Criminal Activity affects all of us in ways big and small. Whether it’s taking the time to meet with the victim of a violent crime or prosecuting the theft of farm equipment, Daniel will ensure that all cases are given the attention we expect of our District Attorney.
FULL TIME, NOT PART TIME
Crime is not part-time and your District Attorney shouldn’t be either. As your next District Attorney, Daniel W. Sparks will avoid working against our neighbors’ interests, conflicts of interest, and give the office a full-time leader our community needs.
CONSEQUENCES AND CONVICTIONS
We see what happens with habitual offenders: they’re often let back onto the streets to offend again. The job of the District Attorney is to prosecute criminals, that is not an easy task, and Daniel W. Sparks doesn’t expect it to be. To effectively protect our community, Daniel will use all the legal tools at his disposal.
APPROPRIATE PLEA DEALS
Our Parish stands up to crime and so should our District Attorney. When a plea deal is offered, it should be fair, firm, and not like buying a used car. Under Daniel W. Sparks, the District Attorney’s office will not negotiate with criminals and will never be afraid to go to trial.
HELP, NOT SECOND CHANCES
Crime isn’t reduced in the courthouse alone. Daniel believes in meeting people where they are and getting them the help they need. As District Attorney he will responsibly manage a pre-trial diversion program that saves our tax dollars and makes Jeff Davis Parish safer.
SAVING TAXPAYER DOLLARS
With a degree in Accounting, Daniel W. Sparks is the Conservative choice for Jeff Davis Parish District Attorney. Being fiscally responsible means using all resources available, such as collaborating with State and Federal Agencies when the opportunities present themselves. He will manage the District Attorney’s budget just as he would his own family’s.
COMMUNITY FIRST
Too often, the voices of Jeff Davis Parish are not heard in the courthouse. From protecting our seniors to engaging our youth, Daniel will ensure the District Attorney’s office is active in our community, listens to your needs, and we all have a part in making our community safer.
